Americans are not saying "bah humbug" to the holidays just yet.

Despite the current economic crisis, most Americans are not blowing off the holidays. Sixty-four percent of consumers are expected to spend money on gifts this year, compared with 74% in 2007. Those who will spend may plan to do things a little differently this year. Predictions from the Consumer Electronics Association forecasts a small rise in electronic purchases. According to Consumer Reports, online electronic retailers may offer additional savings for those "must-have" gifts such as TVs, navigation and video systems for cars.
