Bucks County's
Oldest Bank Reaffirms Its Commitment to Independence
At a time
when more and more banks are being assimilated into mergers and acquisitions,
the oldest, most established bank in Bucks County once again made a formal move
to reaffirm its commitment to remaining an independent, community bank. The
Board of Directors of The First National Bank and Trust Company of Newtown made
the announcement at their meeting on Tuesday,
January 8, 2008, during which they signed the bank’s unique document known
as its "Declaration of Independence." The declaration ensures that
Bucks County will continue to have a locally owned bank which operates to serve
the needs of the unique community.
"We've
been here for over 140 years, and we remain committed to this county,"
said John T. Parry, President and CEO of First National Bank. "We still
reinvest our assets back into Bucks County, and we're still supporting local
residents and businesses."
