Local Charities Receive $1500 and 59 cases of Food from First National Bank
The
First National Bank & Trust Company of Newtown awarded its 2008 Community
Partners Outreach Awards to three Bucks County Non-Profit Organizations on
Monday, May 12th. The recipients of the $500 awards, which concluded the bank’s
fourth annual Community Banking Month program, were chosen by random drawing
from nominations made during the month of April. The organizations honored were

Woman's Place, Child, Home & Community and the Upper Makefield Conservancy.
Charities
were nominated by anyone depositing a canned good in any of the bank’s twelve
branches throughout Bucks County. The collected cans were distributed to three
local food banks chosen at random from the nominees. 59 cases of food were
divided between the Bucks County Housing Group, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church
and the Salvation Army. Each of these organizations offers public food banks to
serve individuals and families in need.
A Woman’s Place is the only domestic
violence agency in Bucks County, providing comprehensive free, private,
and confidential service, support, education,
outreach, and advocacy to victims of domestic abuse and violence and
their children and the community.
Child, Home & Community is a resource for childbirth, parenting, and support
classes for pregnant or parenting teens and young adults. Their mission is to
help young parents to build a better future for themselves and their children.
Upper Makefield Conservancy is an organization
dedicated to preserving historic, pre-historic, environmental, active farming
and open space resources in Upper Makefield Township.
