First National Bank Hosts Free
Document Shredding Event
Once
again, The First National Bank & Trust Company of Newtown demonstrated
their commitment to combating identity theft. On Saturday, May 17, 2008, the second
of four annual Shred Day events was held at their Newtown location. With
identity theft on the rise, Shred Days were designed to promote awareness and
provide the community an opportunity to protect themselves.
With
up to 4 boxes of personal documents allowed per person, First National Bank
collected 8,000 pounds of shred (4 tons), saved 68 trees and 12,000 gallons of
water, making this event the largest to date.
"Unfortunately,
old documents are a prime source of identity theft, even when they are thrown
away,” said John Parry, President and CEO of First National Bank. “It’s a sad
fact of today’s culture, but disposing of printed personal or business
information properly is an essential requirement to keep your identity secure.
We’re glad to offer this service to members of the community."
Shredding
is provided by Titan Mobile Shredding of Doylestown, PA, a locally owned and
operated organization offering secure, on-site document destruction.
First
National Bank would like to thank all who participated in making this event
such a huge success. For information on future 2008 Shred Days, visit http://www.fnbn.com/about/shredding.php.
