Famous Newtown Landmark Returns on Time
Newtown
Boro’s famous landmark, the four-faced clock on the corner of State
Street and Centre Avenue, has been reinstalled following a
three-month absence for repair and refurbishment.
“The
clock has returned to continue marking time as Newtown continues to
celebrate its 325th
anniversary” said John Parry, President and CEO of The First. “She
remains a cherished and functional monument to our history and has
stood witness to many important events in our community.”
"While
the clock’s mechanism has been fully restored, and should provide
many more years of service, the exterior retains the weathered look
it has earned over its numerous decades of service."
