The First National Bank Announces 2013 Community Outreach Award Winners
In celebration of Community Banking Month, The First National Bank & Trust Company of Newtown recently awarded its 2013 Community Outreach Awards to three Bucks County non-profit organizations. The recipients of the $500 awards were chosen by random drawing from nominations made during the month of April. This year’s awards were presented to Doxie Rescue of Bucks County, Family Promise of Lower Bucks and Gilda’s Club Delaware Valley.
Charities were nominated by anyone depositing a canned good in any of the bank’s twelve branches throughout Bucks County. 25 boxes of food were collected and will be donated to the Wrightstown Food Cupboard. This pantry is supported by the Anchor Presbyterian Church, Penns Park United Methodist Church and Wrightstown Friends Meeting.
Doxie Rescue of Bucks County (DRBC) specializes in saving and placing abandoned, neglected, turned-in or stray dachshunds. All DRBC dogs with long-term medical issues are given life-long sanctuary as permanent members of a foster home. Additionally, DRBC supports the long-term sponsorship of senior dachshunds.
Family Promise of Lower Bucks (FPLB) is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization that brings the local faith-based community together to assist homeless families with children regain their housing and their independence. FPLB is part of a network of more than 170 affiliates across the United States working to reduce homelessness and transform lives.
Gilda's Club Delaware Valley provides a safe and supportive environment dedicated to providing support, education and hope to people affected by cancer. These programs are an essential complement to medical care providing support, networking groups, social activities, educational workshops and lectures.
